From the East

dennisrootesHappy April Everyone!

As we start the second quarter of 2015 things are looking bright in the East! Our recent initiatives with DeMolay were a great success! The paintball outing was a “smash” hit, and the fundraising efforts have been fantastic. I’m told that DeMolay is looking at possibly gaining four new members as a result of their March Membership Madness drive which your generous donation helped make possible. We also had a very successful Rainbow box social, and an extremely fun visit to Job’s Daughters for Green Socks Night. I must say I was a bit disappointed in the turnout for our membership at Green Socks Night. We had a mere 9 men representing the lodge, 5 of whom were officers, and 2 who were actually there because of Eastern Star. Eastern Star had 22 members representing their Chapter.

We did, however, have outstanding attendance at our first ever DeMolay Official Visit. Thank you so much to all of the members who came out to support the boys. Please re- member that this is not a contest, we need to support all of our youth groups as much as we can. The boys of DeMolay are generally considered to be the future of our lodge, but in a way, so are the girls. Those young ladies will eventually grow up to be mothers, who will hopefully have sons, and it’s your participation in their lives now that will make them want to continue being a part of the Masonic family in the future.

Speaking of the future of the lodge, if all goes well, we should have three new candi- dates to call brothers in the month of April!

Keep your eyes on the calendar for any changes, and if you aren’t on the event mailing list, please give one of the officers your email so that you can stay informed of everything that’s going on. This is going to be an active and fun year, and I want to see as much participation as possible. Remember that a lodge is like every other organization in the sense that it is built on the relationships between its members – you can’t build those relationships if you aren’t there.

Sincerely & Fraternally,

Dennis Rootes
