What a great month this has been! We just initiated three new brothers, Shawn McCuen, Keoni Ho, and Joe Latshaw. Welcome brothers! And a hearty congratulations to all of the officers who worked advanced stations that night – three firsts in one night, it felt like old times again. =) And Sean, you wore the hat well.
For those of you who may have missed our Youth appreciation day, we had a fantastic time at Boomers in Irvine despite the rainy weather. A full 50 activity cards were given out to about 35 youths and 15 adults, and we actually had a few more adult advisors who declined to play the games but hung out with us for the day. Games included laser tag, go- carts, and the arcade, but it was raining when we went out to play mini-golf, so we’ll have to do that again next year. It also turned out to be Abby Wright’s 18th birthday so we celebrated by singing happy birthday to her and eating ice cream.
Our new format for the DeMolay breakfast was a fantastic success! Thank you to everyone who came out to support the youth, particularly the adults who worked behind the scenes, David Branch, Bob White, Marshall Tipton, Fiona Kristy, Keith Jones, James Segerstrom, and Mike Selix. You all did a fantastic job! A super special thank you goes out to the youths, Abby Wright, Anastasia Foster, Jeff Jones, Anthony Pennington, Magellan White, and Shaun Heather for all their hard work making omelets and waffles. For those of you who missed it, we had Jeff, Marshall, and Abby making the custom-ordered omelets while you waited, and Anthony making the waffles. Yeah, there were a few things that could be improved upon next time, (frozen strawberries need to be thawed 24 hrs in ad- vance….), but all-in-all they did a fantastic job! We’re sure to have another breakfast within a few months so come out and visit us while you’re enjoying a hot, fresh, omelet.
Keep your eyes on the calendar for any changes, and if you aren’t on the event mailing list, please give one of the officers your email so that you can stay informed of everything that’s going on. This is going to be an active and fun year, and I want to see as much participation as possible. Remember that a lodge is like every other organization in the sense that it is built on the relationships between its members – you can’t build those relationships if you aren’t here.
I hope to see you on May 12th for our annual Public Schools Appreciation Night!
Sincerely & Fraternally,
