From the East

marshalltiptonHail, Brethren!

I have so many things to tell you about! The first exciting thing is that we finally have a new website. Those who consulted ormc.us frequently will now notice that that address points to http://orangegrovelodge.com, a site designed by Sean Bell of Irvine Valley Lodge and Mike Martinsen, our very own Temple Manager and Associate Patron of Scepter Chapter. Go and take a look if you haven’t already—there’s even a place to add your email address to the list to receive weekly updates about the events in the Lodge.

We made a second visit to Saddleback Laguna Lodge on April 8th, but this time we didn’t tell them we were coming. We managed to steal their Travelling Gavel, which I will be proudly displaying until they manage to take it back from us. Make sure you all come to Lodge frequently; we don’t want to make it too easy for them to reclaim it!

Christa and I recently went camping to celebrate our first anniversary together, and we had an absolute blast. For those that have been to Mount San Jacinto State Park in Idyllwild, you already know how beautiful and peaceful it is… and for those that haven’t, I’m pleased to announce that we’ll be holding our annual Lodge Campout there in September. Sites book up fast so please contact me if you’re interested in more details.

Lately we haven’t had as many candidates as we might like, but I urge you all to see this not as a problem, but as a challenge—there are other things we can do as Masons, such as getting involved in our community. I’ve got quite a list already: I’m in communication with the Red Cross to schedule a blood drive at Orange Grove in mid-summer, I’ve heard from Brothers who are interested in forming a Work Party to rework and refinish the icons in the Dining Room, and I’m very enthusiastic to get us out into the public view with an Open House event sometime soon. I can’t do this all alone—I need your help, dear Brothers and Friends. If you’re available to assist me in these endeavors, or if you have some ideas of your own to keep us showing up on Tuesdays, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Finally, the Temple Board is unveiling new parking decals for the back alley. These decals are free and are available to any member of the Lodge or affiliated organization that uses our Temple. Each decal requires a simple application. The applications for the decals will be available starting May 1st and towing will begin on June 1st. We still won’t have as much parking as we’d like but it’s certainly a start! Please see Dave Sullivan for details and applications.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Marshall Tipton
